The Presentism Travel Pilgrimage Fund is an initiative to lower the financial burden that prohibits low-income Black and Indigenous people from being able to embark on international journeys. In pursuit of reinidgenization, we call upon non-Black people to materially support the mobility of Black cultural workers who are seeking to deepen their relationship to other Indigenous people through our voyages on the African continent and beyond.

This initiative is in conversation with similar endeavors by Birthright Africa and Magic & Melanin — to learn more about these projects, follow the links below.

Presentism Travel is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Presentism Travel must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Founded by Walla Elsheikh and Diallo Shabazz, Birthright AFRICA facilitates fully-funded trips for youth and young adults of African descent ages 13 – 30 to explore their cultural roots and legacy of innovation within the United States and select nations in Africa as a birthright.

Founded by Dossé-Via, Magic & Melanin is a travel agency providing immersive experiences for humans of the diaspora to know, explore, and invest in West Africa. Their Homegoing Fund “aims to offer an opportunity for every human of the African diaspora to safely and sustainably return home.”
